Did you see the greatest NIL gift of the holiday season? It wasn't in the form of a toy. Or tickets. Or clothing. It was far greater than that. Indiana's men's basketball player Anthony Leal surprised his sister with a gift for the ages, paying off her student loan debt with the money he had earned from his NIL deals. Watch for yourself: Wow. @anthonyl3al of @IndianaMBB used his NIL money to pay off his sister’s student loans for Christmas 🥹@IndianaNILStore pic.twitter.com/2h3a4bTSPv— The NIL Store (@nil_store) December 25, 2022 Leal left his older sister, Lauren, speechless as she read his card and discovered the surprise. Said Leal in a tweet: “Some folks have negative opinions about NIL. But without it, things like this wouldn’t be possible.” Leal’s act of kindness is one more example of the incredible impact NIL has had on college athletes, who previously were unable to make an income to maintain eligibility. A piece of Leal’s NIL pie resides on the Indiana NIL Store, where he makes between $8-$15 on every article of merchandise he sells. If you feel so inclined, go show Leal or any of his teammates some love this holiday season! ###
